The Job Placement Specialist (CTS) position provides instructional support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems.

The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps’ mission is to educate and train youth ages 16-24 for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries.

Summary of Duties :

Responsible for providing support to students to ensure that all student who leave Job Corps as a graduate or former enrollee are engaged in a verified job.

Key Areas of Responsibilities :

  • Provides student with an employability assessment evaluation.
  • Submits leaves and leave extension requests as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Updates career plan and case notes monthly.
  • Prepares student to transition successfully out of the program.
  • Provides support to students by arranging transportation as required.
  • Meets with student a minimum of once every 30 days.
  • Maintains contact with local agencies and referral sources and utilizes all staff resources to help student succeed.
  • Acts as a liaison between Job Corps and worksites on student's behalf.
  • Provides referrals to and registers all assignees with employment agencies.
  • Coaches graduates on interviewing skills. Coaches graduates on job search strategies.
  • Maintains contact with former students to provide job placement services and assistance.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field;
  • Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field AND two years related experience.
