The Sr. Staff Accountant brought into the Mission understands and embodies our calling of changing homelessness in San Diego County through Christ.
This individual must also further the mission, vision, and values of the San Diego Rescue Mission through the work they perform by being an intricate part of the Finance department.
This position works solely from our headquarters office in Downtown San Diego
This position reports to and works closely with the Assistant Controller where they will perform tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the San Diego Rescue Mission's Finance department.
Key job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
- Develop an understanding of organization's department spending structure
- Assist with weekly cash flow management reports and projections
- Assist with creating / updating forecast scenario and answering staff questions
- Maintain / update payroll component of forecasting software
- Review staff credit card coding and troubleshoot any staff card use issues
- Assist in managing balance sheet schedules
- Support the Month-end close; post all assigned month-end journal entries
- Other general ledger account reconciliations as needed
- Assist with budgeting planning
- Assist with annual audit by gathering and maintaining necessary documentation and by preparing supporting schedules, confirmations, adjusting journal entries, etc.
as related to job requirements.
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications

Work Experience
The Mission assumes that the candidate will serve as an advocate for the Mission, will support and defend our Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Mission Values, and has a genuine desire to serve the Lord in the ministry of "rescue."
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5+- years hands-on accounting experience
- Experience working at a nonprofit organization preferred.
- Understanding of GAAP compliance and Uniform Guidance and OMB Circulars
Preferred Skills : Strong proficiency in working with Microsoft Excel. SAGE Intacct experience preferred. Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong follow-through and a focus on owning the outcome. Comfortable adapting to change and finding solutions.

Position Details : This is a full-time salary (exempt) position (40+ hours / week).
Pay : The annual compensation range for this California-based position is $82,000 per year. The actual compensation offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Supervisory : No supervisory responsibilities.
