The Azure Data Engineer will play a key role in designing and delivering comprehensive data solutions using On-Premises SQL Server, Azure cloud technologies, and Power BI.

This role involves developing and optimizing data pipelines, managing data migrations using Azure Data Factory (ADF), and creating custom scripts with Python or PowerShell.

We are seeking a highly curious, self-driven individual who thrives on problem-solving and is eager to explore innovative ways to leverage data for business insights.

Experience with financial data or a deep interest in business intelligence is highly desirable. Success in this role requires proactive ownership of projects, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to ask critical questions to drive continuous improvement

Principal Accountabilities :

  • Build, manage, and maintain dynamic data dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights into key business metrics, driving informed decision-making.
  • Identify and spearhead opportunities to streamline data workflows through automation and innovative approaches, taking full ownership of improving processes.
  • Engage closely with department leaders to understand and anticipate evolving business needs, asking insightful questions to guide data strategies and solutions.
  • Design and implement technical solutions for data engineering processes that fulfill business requirements, ensuring scalability and long-term success.
  • Actively shape and refine data engineering best practices, contributing new ideas and methodologies that enhance the team's efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the data architect to enforce coding standards, best practices, and produce robust, scalable, and reusable production-ready code.
  • Proactively support and troubleshoot the data environment, continuously tuning for optimal performance and addressing issues before they impact stakeholders.
  • Capture and analyze business requirements to design intuitive data models, and build efficient data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to ensure the highest levels of data accuracy, integrity, consistency, and security across all platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend new data sources, tools, or methodologies that can enhance the team's ability to deliver business intelligence and insights.
  • Continuously stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, actively contributing fresh ideas and improvements to data engineering processes

Job Prerequisites :

  • Proven experience working with both On-Premises and Cloud technologies using SQL, Azure Technologies, Power BI, and DAX to deliver business insights.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, with the ability to optimize complex queries and improve database performance.
  • Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for building and managing API pipelines to import and transform data.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and optimizing ADF pipelines across various source systems.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining SQL Server Agent Jobs and Windows Scheduler Jobs.
  • Familiarity with Power Apps, Power Automate (formerly Power Flow), and Snowflake is a plus.
  • Solid experience building ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, with an emphasis on performance and scalability.
  • Strong expertise in database technologies, data warehousing using Kimball methodologies, and the ability to design efficient data models.
  • Experience implementing and managing CI / CD pipelines in data engineering projects to ensure continuous integration and deployment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, translating technical solutions into business value.
  • A proactive, self-motivated mindset with a passion for problem-solving, innovation, and learning new skills to stay current with industry trends.
  • A creative thinker who can identify new opportunities for improving data processes and delivering business intelligence insights

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with Power BI, SQL and Azure Data Factory.
  • 2 years of experience working with python.
  • 2 years of experience working with Snowflake.
