POSITION TYPE : Seasonal
WAGE RANGE : $15-18hr DOE
SUPERVISORY : No SUPERVISED BY : Special Events Manager
POSITION SUMMARY : Weekend and holiday work on NASTAR race venue and assistance with special events.
Applicants must be 18 years old.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS : Specific tasks include course-setting, venue preparation and tear-down, timing, course maintenance, race course gate-keeping, fencing setup and teardown, sign placement, guest awareness and crowd control.
PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS : This is a standing / walking position for up to 12 hours each shift. May lift up to 100lbs occasionally and up to 50lbs often.
Assistance is available for heavy lifting. Workers will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist and reach above shoulder level on an occasional basis.
Will use hands for grasping and pushing / pulling at a 25 - 30lb level. Worksite is 10% inside and 90% outside. Exposed to all temperatures and all moisture ranges.
Hazards are mechanical, electrical, and ice / snow. Uniforms are supplied. Sensory skills of vision, hearing, touch, smell and speech are needed.
Must be able to maintain control and rational demeanor in emotionally charged situations involving guests and / or employees in situations that may have an audience.
Will ski / snowboard carrying heavy loads. Will shovel snow.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES : Must be able to provide an extensive understanding of the mountain area as well as the services of Schweitzer Mountain.
Must be available to work varying hours and days.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS :
SKILLS : Excellent guestand employee relations
Accomplished skiing or snowboarding skills
Basic computer skills
EDUCATION : English, reading, writing, communication; basic math
EXPERIENCE : Outdoor working experience, race experience preferred
LICENSE NEEDED : None
MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED : Shovels, Rakes, Drills, PA systems, Timer, Computer
JUDGEMENT / MENTAL COMPLEXITY : Moderate
REVIEW SCHEDULE : This position and the individual filling it will be evaluated once a season.
