SUMMARY
To provide a comprehensive transit organization experience, the intern spends time in the various departments. Tasks include transit operations analysis, primary and secondary data-gathering, report-writing, research and plan development for special projects and administrative support.
The intern is responsible for completing a major project within the Planning & Scheduling department by the completion of their internship.
The intern works in a team environment and must demonstrate organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and analyze information regarding GRTC Transit System route services.
- Perform data collection from GRTC departments; maintain databases regarding performance criteria; and write reports for program updates to assist staff with on-going Federal requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators.
- Cooperate with the updating of the annual Transit Development Plan.
- Assist staff with data input and report production regarding ride checks.
- Assist staff in field data collection and selection of proposed sites for amenity installations, including the maintenance and update of the amenities database.
- Take and respond to public and customer requests or comments regarding public transit amenities and bus stop requests.
- Respond to external inquiries about GRTC Transit System services and operating data.

- Understanding of word processing, spreadsheet, and computer technology.
- Coursework and experience using ArcMap, preferred but not required.
Education and / or Experience
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably Urban and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Geospatial Analysis, or a related field.
Experience in a public or non-profit organization is preferred but not required.
