IPAM, supported by the National Science Foundation, sponsors interdisciplinary research programs that bring together scholars from around the world to review the latest advances in a wide range of fields.
Dedicated to providing an international forum for communication and collaboration, IPAM brings researchers from academia and industry together to research contemporary topics involving mathematics and computational science.
Position Summary
IPAM is seeking an Information Technology Manager is responsible for managing the technical support, software development and video production staff (3 FTE) for the Institute.
This position is also responsible for the Institute's network and systems administration, databases, web site, and advanced technical support to both program participants and staff.
Salary & Compensation
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications
Ability to translate both high level organizational level design problems and end user requirements into manageable computer solutions.
Ability to understand and integrate new trends and techniques in system design, application development and web design. (Required)
Skill in working independently and accomplishing goals with minimal direction. Ability to prioritize tasks, to adjust priorities as circumstances dictate and to prepare project plans and schedules.
Writing skills to prepare concise, logical, grammatically and factually correct memoranda and other correspondence, technical reports, system alerts and procedural recommendations. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to supervise technical support staff. (Required)
- Ability to form and maintain cooperative relationships within a complex organization, and formulate and interpret policies and communicate with relevant stakeholders. (Required)
- Detailed knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, sufficient to deeply diagnose server and workstation problems.
Demonstrated ability to install, maintain and administer Linux and Windows servers and workstations. Ability to setup, configure and maintain e-mail, database, web and application servers.
Experience with virtual and cloud environments. (Required)
Demonstrated skills to design and implement a Local Area Network utilizing multiple operating systems and platforms. Skill in system architecture and analysis.
Detailed knowledge of computer hardware and software systems, hardware components, peripherals, printers, tablets, and network hardware. (Required)
- Detailed knowledge of LAN technologies including switches and routers. Detailed knowledge of TCP / IP, BGP and other Internet / LAN communication protocols. (Required)
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge of LAN and Systems security principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to secure networked systems according to established guidelines. (Required)
- Demonstrated skills in interacting with a wide variety of end user experience levels and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver training to all levels of users. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to manage the development of web applications. Detailed working knowledge of relational databases and database management systems. (Required)
- Ability to program in standard system administrative languages such as Linux Bash, Windows Powershell and command line, etc. (Required)
- Experience in supervising and managing audio-visual operations, videoconferencing and video recording operations. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required)
