Reporting to the Assistant Director for Communications and Training, the Coordinator for Student Staff is a critical member of the Client Services team within the Office of Financial Aid.

This position is responsible for the supervision, training, evaluation, and coordination of budget allocation for Client Services student staff.

The coordinator manages the process of hiring and monitoring earnings for Client Services student staff. In addition to being the Coordinator for Student Staff, this position serves as a financial aid counselor providing customer service via telephone, email and in person with students and families.

A focus of this position is to build and maintain effective relationships with key constituents including campus partners.

This position coordinates resources, sets goals, develops long-term plans, and measures outcomes to support success.

Colorado State University is excited to be launching a new enrollment services one-stop center. The new department, which will merge customer service for key elements of records, registration, student billing, financial aid, and housing / dining, is expected to be launched with the start of the -25 academic year.

This position is being initially hired within the Office of Financial Aid, but is slated for eventual transition to the enrollment services one-stop department.

This position is a full-time appointment, based on the CSU Fort Collins campus, with the potential for flexible work arrangements including hybrid office / remote work.

In accordance with Federal regulatory requirements, all finalists must be in good standing on any outstanding Federal Title IV student loans and cannot have a repayment due for a Title IV grant. Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • At least two years of professional experience working in a Title IV financial aid office.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, present, train, and advise on topics related to higher education.
  • Excellent written communication skills, as demonstrated by application materials submitted.
  • A personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent learning effort, active planning, allocation of resources and / or accountability for diversity outcomes.
  • In accordance with Federal regulatory requirements, all finalists must be in good standing on any outstanding Federal Title IV student loans and cannot have a repayment due for a Title IV grant.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Three or more years of full-time experience working in a Title IV Financial Aid Office with a demonstrated knowledge of federal student financial aid regulations
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner student information system
  • Masters degree in higher education or related field
  • Experience supervising staff.

  • Serves as a senior counselor in addition to other duties.
  • Communicates and counsel students in-person, virtually, by phone, and email.
  • Advise new and current students and families in their financial aid application process.
  • Assists students throughout their college career to help retain them at CSU and successfully meet their education goals.

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate financial aid outreach projects and presentations on scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment to students and families, campus and community partners
  • Represent CSU at key events with new and future partners.
  • Display CSU materials and information at CSU events and campus partner events.

  • This position is responsible for the hiring process, supervision, coordination, scheduling, training, evaluation of Client Services student staff.
  • The person in this role will coordinate and manage budget allocation for student staff and manages the process of hiring and monitoring earnings for Client Services student staff.

  • Serve as Office of Financial aid liaison for key campus partners.
  • Member of committees, boards, or panels to represent the Office of Financial Aid.
  • As a liaison, they would be the primary financial aid contact for the department as well as they students they serve.
  • This position would also provide training and resources for key campus partners.

  • Remain current on matters associated with financial aid, student billing, student employment, and tuition classification through training.
  • Develop professionally by attending industry conference training as required, staff meetings, seminars, and reading professional publications.
  • Personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and / or accountability for diversity outcomes through active participation in dialogue, university events / presentations, reading publications, and / or attendance at events targeted for diversity, inclusion, and equity.

  • This role must be well rounded in their overall knowledge of campus resources so that a student can be successful.
  • In addition to specific financial aid training topics, continual learning will take place about advocacy offices, specialized academic counseling services, and basics of how food and housing can impact student success.
