Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has one (1) full-time academic position available at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, with clinical duties at Seattle Children's Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pediatric anatomic pathology services and will serves as a resource in pediatric anatomic pathology for attending physicians, nursing, pediatric and other medical and surgical subspecialty services, community physicians, and ancillary health team providers.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

This is a full-time 12-month (July 1-June 30) service position and will remain open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024 or later.

Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and supervision of the clinical care team. The successful candidates will provide pathology services at Seattle Children's Hospital.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This position is paid directly by Seattle Children's Hospital and receives no UW compensation.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an M.D. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pediatric Pathology.

Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
