Opportunity :
The Director of Business Operations oversees a wide array of business-oriented college operations. By providing high-quality services to students and the entire campus community, the director plays a key role in furthering the college's mission and fulfilling its vision.
The director is responsible for providing services to external constituents, particularly through hosting summer conferences and camps.
These services support college operations and enhance the college's reputation while providing profit to further the academic mission.
Position Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree or a targeted Associate Degree with a concentration in Business, or significant position related experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of successful management experience including profit & loss responsibility, budgeting, and direct line management.
- Proven experience and a strong drive to enhance processes, increase efficiency, elevate customer experience, and boost revenue.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse set of businesses.
- Demonstrated organizational, staff development, and team leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interact successfully with internal and external constituencies.
- Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.

Preferred Education / Experience :
Direct experience in retailing, hospitality, conference management, food service management, and purchasing / strategic sourcing.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for each major auxiliary and independent operation, aligning with the core college mission and strategic plan.
- Initiate new enterprises and enhance existing businesses within the strategic framework of the college.
- Achieve budgeted profit for all areas of responsibility and operate all entities with professionalism and excellent customer service.
- Develop performance criteria for key operating partners and manage these relationships to achieve annual financial and service delivery objectives.
- Lead and develop personnel at all levels with a focus on developing managers in each department.
- Oversee the college's risk management program and insurance policies, serving as the contact person for claims and incident reports.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the VP / Operations & Finance.

- An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College.
- A strong understanding of and commitment to Scripture, the Westminster Standards, and the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) denomination.
- Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments
Physical Work Environment :
- This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other job-related technology.
- There is a mix of standing, walking and sitting for this role, with a majority of the in-office work day spent in a stationary position.
- Classified as light, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs.
- Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language.
- Generally, college hours of operation for full-time staff are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00am to 4 : 30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Generally, travel is not required for this position other than for professional development and training purposes.
