Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Principal Structural Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC Design Office. Responsible in the design office for routine engineering and design tasks of the civil / structural area of assigned projects based on specific and detailed instructions received from the assigned supervisor as to the required tasks and results expected.

Job Description

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Principal Structural Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC Design Office. Responsible in the design office for routine engineering and design tasks of the civil / structural area of assigned projects based on specific and detailed instructions received from the assigned supervisor as to the required tasks and results expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform Structural Engineering duties in the Management of the Project's workforce, finances, and materials used on the specific project.
• Responsible for design and safety of temporary structures used during construction.
• Applying basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in development of engineering design packages.
• Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.
• Experience with performing material take offs for steel and concrete on industrial projects.
• Write technical specifications and scopes of work for steel, concrete, and geotechnical materials.
• Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel; both within the company and for the customer.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, video conferencing, email, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely.

Work Environment

Employee will work primarily in an office however may work in other environments including warehouse and, in a trailer, or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following : light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.

Remote work may be an option for some candidates.
