Job Summary :
The Senior Vice President & General Counsel is responsible for the strategic legal function and providing overall management to the legal team.
Essential Functions :
- Responsible for management oversight of business protocols for legal functions such as contracting, policy and procedure management, and document retention
- Proactively partner with management staff and others on business transactions to identify and discuss related legal considerations
- Provide training to senior management on important legal topics including contract management, HIPAA, policies and procedures, vendor contracting, fraud, waste and abuse and other matters
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of topics related to health care law such as : HIPAA, regulatory compliance, Medicaid and Medicare issues, privacy rights
- Provide legal advice on wide variety of legal issues relating to employment law, employee relations, employee benefits, FMLA, litigation, corporate law, intellectual law, real estate law, financing transactions, antitrust, provider contracting, not-for-profit law, tax-exempt organizations, insurance law, and other related questions
- Perform any other job duties as requested
Education and Experience :
- Juris Doctorate degree is required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of managed care legal experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience is required

- Knowledge of tax exempt governance matters
- Extensive knowledge of health care / managed care regulatory environment
- Extensive knowledge of contract drafting and review
- Strong analytic, research and organizational skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word

- Excellent time / project management and prioritization skills
- Ability to excel in fluid, dynamic environment
- Extensive Government Program knowledge
Licensure and Certification :
Ability to practice law in the state of Ohio, preferred; will consider other state bar admission
Working Conditions :
General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Compensation range $300,000-$500,000. CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
