UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a new two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana for what will be the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana.
It is anticipating an opening in Spring 2024.
Essential Job Functions
- Explains procedure ,Answers pertinent procedure questions -Documents medical history and other relevant information from the patient, patient's chart or physician.
- Utilizing paste or adhesive tapes to , apply electrodes according to the 10 / 20 System -Adds additional placements according to 10 / 10 Modified Nomenclature System under indirect supervision as needed.
- Obtains standard or extended recordings in outpatient area or as a portable study in the ER, ICU, NICU, EMU, radiology or inpatient wards.
- Recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them utilizing intermediate troubleshooting techniques.
- Appropriately monitors other variables such as EKG, EMG, EOG, or respirations as technically or clinically indicated.
- Uses activation procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep, when appropriate and demonstrates additional activation procedures when necessary.
- Selects electrode combinations and demonstrates skill in creating new montages and equipment settings for electroencephalographic recordings when clinically indicated.

- Ability to correctly identify normal and abnormal EEG patterns.
- Summarizes the recording for the purpose of informing the physician of abnormalities observed during the test.
- Keeps equipment clean and in good operating condition.
- Familiar with diagnostic trouble shooting techniques, notifying supervisor of problems.
- Plays a role in the general flow and operation of the EEG Lab and EMU including billing, logging, filing, and archiving.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- Provides guidance to junior technicians.
- Can obtain advanced recordings in Evoked Potentials OR Assist with NCS / NCV procedures and assist physician with EMG Procedure OR Can obtain advanced recordings in WADA, Ballon Occulsions, Epilepsy Monitoring, and EEG monitoring with PET under indirect supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program preferred.
- 3.5 or more years’ experience working in a clinical EEG setting
- Board certification from ABRET American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked.
- Potential Technologists in Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist or Registered Evoked Potential Technologist with 6 months experience working in a clinical EEG setting
- Board certification from AAET American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists in registered Nerve Conduction Studies Technologist with 6 months experience working in a clinical EMG setting.
- Competency in all aspects of the EEG Technician, Evoked Potential Technician or Nerve Conduction Studies Technician.
- Basic PC and Microsoft Windows knowledge
- ENDT Program Certificate Preferred
