Non-benefited vacancy in the Department of Social & Youth Services, average 10 hours per week position that includes after school hours and some evening and weekend hours.
This role provides support services for DCF involved children living in Bloomfield with foster families, relative guardians or grandparents.
As part of a dedicated team of youth workers, you will engage directly with youth, leading and participating in activities designed to foster social, emotional, and personal growth.
This position involves safely transporting youth to and from scheduled activities, ensuring their safety. This position is looking for creativity, and a commitment to building positive relationships with youth through active participation in group activities, outings, and one-on-one interactions.
Essential Job Functions :
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.)
- Schedules four (4) activities per month for youth and assist with planning and implementation of six (6) family events per year.
- Maintains program and fiscal documentation for department, town and state funders. (I.e. Individual data forms, individual / group service reports, participant evaluation.
- Assists with public awareness and community education presentations.
- Transports participants to and from activities utilizing town vehicle.
- Supervises participants during scheduled group activities.
- Attends and participates in program staff meetings and trainings.
- Assists with policy and procedure development for the program.
- Coordinates guest speakers and educational opportunities that develops teambuilding, leadership, interpersonal and / or life skills.
- Co-leads a youth leadership group that directly assists with program planning and development.
- Assists with set-up and breakdown of equipment and supplies for scheduled activities
- Other program and department related duties as requested by the Youth Services Coordinator and / or Director of Social and Youth Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology or related field desirable, plus two years' experience working with children, adolescents and families in a community setting or a High School Diploma or GED plus six years' experience working with children, adolescents and families in a community setting.
Valid Driver's License Required. Basic First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Applicants must have effective leadership, time management, organizational skills and strong case management, crisis intervention and advocacy skills.
Experience in collaboration and advocacy with other youth and family serving agencies and providers. Experience with DCF involved children and families, preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experienced in working with diverse populations. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
