About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : Medical / Surgical - Short Stay Unit Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights, 3x12-hour shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 1 year in nursing License : Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications : - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC) Must-Have : - Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN / ASN) from an accredited school of Nursing Preferred Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school Preferred Certifications : Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Job Description : Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
- Coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs, attending education programs, and utilizing patient education materials.
- Assesses readiness to learn, developmental level, and factors affecting learning ability of patients and their families / caregivers.
- Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance for revising care plans.- Participates in discussions with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care and communicates relevant information for continuity of care.
- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing and utilizes organizational standards, policies, and procedures for patient care delivery.
- Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.- Consults with appropriate resources for complex care issues, teaching needs, or discharge planning.
- Develops professional growth goals, participates in unit goal achievement, utilizes communication systems effectively, and promotes cost-effective care.
- Provides feedback to coworkers and is knowledgeable about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.
- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.- Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities and assesses and anticipates discharge needs.
- Develops patient and family relationships to promote advocacy.- Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
- Uses available multidisciplinary resources in planning care and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning.- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
- Engages in ongoing education through reading relevant journals and sharing applicable ideas and questions with staff.
