SUMMARY

The Automation and Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for advancing NBE’s controls strategy development and implementation, for industrial automation solutions that are engineered to the customer’s specific application.

A thorough understanding of existing control system platforms and a desire to incorporate rapidly changing advancements in technology are a must.

The successful candidate for this position should be an experienced automation engineer with excellent communication skills, having executed leadership roles in recent employment history.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develop the Automation and Controls Engineering Department through leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
• Oversee departmental projects and priorities. Assign projects to team members based on workload and complexity.
• Lead the requirements development to create a functional specification document, which details the blueprint for the operation and functionality of an automation project.
• Direct the electrical design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming and coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build and electrical teams.
• Lead further implementation of AutoCAD Electrical automation features to improve system design efficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is required.
• 10+ years’ experience in automation, ideally in processing and packing applications.
• Experience with industrial machine automation using electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices and instrumentation.
• A solid understanding of engineering documentation such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Extensive experience with field instrumentation and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems.
• Experience with modern Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology.
• Experience with CE, UL & C / UL design requirements.
