Responsibilities
- Determine purchase requirements and convert them to purchase orders using the SAP system
- Review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness and obtain proper approvals prior to their release.
- Evaluate and negotiate vendor quotes while ensuring the best price, quality, delivery schedule, and freight costs.
- Coordinate with internal sales / customer service to ensure delivery schedules meet customer commitments.
- Proactively monitor vendor order confirmations, ship dates, and tracking information.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding order revisions, damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipment, cancellations, and specification changes.
- Coordinate with customs brokers to release import shipments from US customs.
- Familiarize with basic product specifications related to purchasing orders.
- Analyze inventory movements and assist in setting up product restocking levels.
- Interact regularly with the Warehouse department to resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and incoming shipments.
- Work with Accounting on discrepancies between POs and vendor invoices.
- Create / set up new vendors, part numbers, and, pricing in the ERP system and collaborate with the MDM team in maintaining relevant master data related to Purchasing.
- Solve order-related problems and communicate with the Operations Manager on a timely basis.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Job Requirements
- At least 2-3 buyer experience and familiarity with E-Commerce are required.
- A high level of integrity is required.
- Self-motivated, independent, willing to accept responsibility, and have an inherent ability to prioritize and multi-task while working under time constraints.
- Above-average analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Good negotiating skills, good judgment, and attention to detail.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel (Formulas, Pivot Table, V-lookup). SAP experience preferred.
- Experience in fiber and optic environments is a plus.
- Bilingual English & Spanish required
