Job Summary
We are seeking a Controller to join our team. In this role, you will monitor the company’s financial status and accounting policies, review budgets, and ensure payments are submitted in a timely fashion.
This essential position ensures our company is compliant with all accounting regulations, mitigates risks, and maximizes profits.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Controller with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, or a student graduating soon or already graduated, ready to learn and expand their experience in accounting.
Responsibilities
Create, implement, and update company accounting policies to comply with all rules and regulations
Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of charges and payments
Communicate with all vendors, customers, contractors, and sub contractors for anything pertaining to finances
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Payable
Direct month-end closing process including journal entries and reconciliations
Daily Transaction categorization, project tracking, reports and bookkeeping in Quickbooks Online
Process daily paperwork
Work closely with insurance agency's, managing all insurance paperwork including updating policies, working with GC's to be in compliance with Owner requirements, and providing Certificates of Insurance when applicable
Prepare annual tax documents including 1099's and W4 forms and assist CPA in completing tax returns
Complete prevailing wage forms and other applicable documentation for state projects
Utilize AIA invoicing for commercial projects and handle AIA bonds
Hold weekly financial meetings focusing on preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and reports per request of the Owner's
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies, and directives, and current accounting standards
Coordinate audits of company accounts, insurance, and financial transactions
Determine depreciation rates to apply to assets
Handle debt management and collection
Review and analyze budgets, costs, and profits
Set and monitor key performance indicators
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and developments
Create risk assessment models
Create and present reports on the company’s financial performance
Payroll Processing with ADP
Work closely with Estimator and Project Management team on all jobs
HR paperwork when hiring, ensuring employee is in state compliance with all required forms
Minimal Marketing on social media platforms
Drive as needed to meetings, job sites, pick up financial documents, etc.
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Certification as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is not required but welcomed
Previous experience as a Controller or in a similar position is preferred
Understanding of all relevant accounting principles, procedures, and regulations
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, databases, and accounting software
Must have experience with Quickbooks Online
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
Precious experience in Glass and Glazing industry or similar is preferred
