The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking a PART-TIME Physician to work Hematology / Oncology Section at our facility.
The primary role is to provide clinical care in Hematology / Oncology to veterans presenting with various cancers. The physician will work 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule.
The Staff Physician - Hematology / Oncology's primary role is to provide clinical care in Hematology / Oncology and to oversee the educations of Residents, Fellows, and Medical Students within his / her practice area.
Specialized Experience for Hematology / Oncology Physician includes :
- Interpret mutational and molecular genetic testing to guide chemotherapeutic agent prescribing.
- Complete life sustaining therapy conferences with patients and family members Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions treat diseases and disorders of the blood, spleen, lymph glands, and immunologic system, such as anemia, clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, leukemia, and lymph nodes.
- Administration of chemotherapeutic agents and biological response modifiers through all therapeutic routes
- Apheresis procedures
- Analyze blood tests manually, including blood count, including platelets and white cell differential
- Diagnostic lumbar puncture
- Performing bone marrow aspirates, bone marrow biopsies, and touch preparations as well as interpretation of bone marrow biopsies
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic paracentesis
- Management of indwelling venous access catheters
- Therapeutic thoracentesis
