JOB SUMMARY

So, whatll I be doing?

As a Systems Engineer II youll participate in the building and integration of systems and platforms by providing engineering knowledge that cover multiple IT disciplines.

This could include experience deploying and leveraging technologies such as public cloud services, on premise systems, databases, network configuration, deployment tools, or general automation.

Know that having a foundational understanding of system engineering technology, having the drive to accomplish tasks if empowered to do so, and having the courage to learn and apply new technology is more valuable than in depth knowledge in any of these technologies.

Youll be joining the System Engineering team! Our team acts as leaders in both the Engineering and Operational space in our org.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Sounds great! What would my general responsibilities be?

  • Youll work with stakeholders to create requirements for new infrastructure systems and platforms both on premise and in the cloud.
  • Youll be responsible for participating and improving our capabilities in your sphere of responsibility (e.g. cloud infrastructure, development support, automation, etc).
  • Youll work with our project managers to define project plans and tasks.
  • Youll assist on efforts to create infrastructural architecture around new systems and platforms.
  • Youll drive implementation efforts of systems and platforms, delivering quality solutions in a timely manner in compliance with defined requirements.
  • Youll be responsible for becoming an SME for specific technology stacks used within the team (e.g. Azure, GCP, Terraform, Storage, MicroStrategy, Atlassian, etc.).
  • Youll work with application delivery managers and application developers to deploy custom software and create automated deployment solutions.
  • Youll provide support to application development teams for infrastructure needs.
  • Youll lead activities to proactively maintain and upgrade your owned platforms and systems, preferably with automation.
  • Youll be responsible for defining and executing operational procedures for systems and platforms in their areas of expertise, preferably with automation.
  • Youll manage the documentation of infrastructure standards.
  • Youll develop automation capabilities to automate the deployment and maintenance of systems and platforms.
  • Youll identify, investigate, evaluate, and become proficient in new technologies and technical disciplines that are of significance to HealthTrust.

Bachelors Degree Preferred

What experience or skills would help me excel in this role?

  • Experience in deploying technically complex infrastructure and computing solutions across platforms and components, preferably with automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain documentation.
  • Experience in building automation using tools such as ansible, terraform, powershell, command shell, scripting, database and / or application programming.
  • Specific platform knowledge in one or more key areas of cloud architecture and / or application platforms such as Azure, GCP, Terraform, MicroStrategy, Atlassian, etc.
  • Experience with operating system concepts and practical implementation of those fundamentals in a production environment.
  • Experience supporting custom application development.
  • Experience with the technologies utilized by our organization such as :
  • Cloud IaaS Azure, GCP
  • Cloud PaaS technologies Azure functions, Logic Apps, Webapps, AKS, etc.
  • Automation & System Management Github, Ansible Tower, Azure DevOps
  • Configuration Management Terraform, Ansible
  • Network technologies Load Balancers, DNS
  • Security technologies - Ping Federate, certificate management, etc.
  • Virtualization technologies Vmware
  • Business Intelligence platforms - MicroStrategy
  • Application Platforms .NET, Sitecore, Java, SharePoint
  • Cloud and on Prem backup technologies General knowledge
