POSITION :

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications for qualified candidates for the position of :

QUALIFICATIONS :

The candidate must be a NYS certified teacher currently employed in the Buffalo Public Schools with contract status on or before 10 / 25 / 2024.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of successful classroom and / or coaching experience in an urban school district.

Preference will be given to candidates with proven coordinator or coaching experience or facilitating an instructional technology program.

The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with all district stakeholders.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong collaborative, team-oriented, and flexible approach to partnered work.

EXPERIENCE :

In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in instructional technology, curriculum design, digital environments, creation of content for online learning, and facilitation of student programs.

Knowledge of the New York State Common Core Standards and curricula, New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, assessments, data-driven instruction, Special Education, English Language Learners (ELL), ISTE Standards, and 21st Century Skills will also be considered in evaluating each candidate’s qualifications

The candidate should also possess :

  • Knowledge of current educational technology initiatives, including the Buffalo Public Schools’ Student Technology Leadership Program, Cinematography Studies Program, Girls Who Game Program, 1 : 1 computing, flipped classrooms, digital citizenship, digital literacy, and STEAM
  • Thorough knowledge of various technology integration frameworks, including SAMR and TPACK
  • Proven ability to create programmatic units of study to foster differentiation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving
  • Demonstrable history of designing and executing meaningful technology integration experiences that align ISTE Standards with CCLS and BPS curricula at various grade levels
  • Facility in the use of BPS Instructional Technology resources, including software, hardware, web resources, and peripheral devices
  • Understanding of the appropriate uses of learning management systems and social media in K-12 education
  • Deep understanding of ways instructional technology can support information literacy skills and student learning, especially in relation to the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS)
  • Thorough knowledge of BPS curriculum and instructional models
  • Knowledge and facility in the use of multiple pedagogical techniques for addressing the needs of various learners, including Special Education Students and ELLs
  • Commitment to following and enforcing BPS, Federal and State policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to Instructional Technology
  • Experience in planning, leading, and facilitating professional development opportunities with a variety of stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of DTSDE, NYSUT Rubric, and the APPR Process and how the use of technology factors into each

DUTIES :

The Coordinator of Instructional Technology Programs may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties :

  • Oversee the development and implementation of instructional technology programs, including the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), Girls Who Game (GWG), and other related initiatives and ensure alignment with district and departmental goals and instructional objectives
  • Mentor and guide students in technology-focused programs, providing opportunities for leadership development
  • Supervising and coordinating school year and summer internship opportunities for students in partnership with various school programs and learning initiatives and with the department’s technical services vendor
  • Developing tools and resources to guide program development and implementation
  • Coordinating and participating in project planning and execution, including idea generation, issues identification, strategic alignment, research, analysis, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinating the design and redesign of programs and services through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertaking day-to-day tasks associated with program operation, including workflow, facilitation, and documentation
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional technology programs by collecting and analyzing relevant data, reporting on program outcomes, and recommending improvements based on data-driven insights
  • Supporting change management and continuous improvement initiatives, providing facilitation or advice to program facilitators and department colleagues as needed
  • Work closely with school leaders, IT staff, teachers, and community partners to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of instructional technology programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, such as technology vendors, universities, and community organizations
  • Continuously developing and improving own capacity and the capacity of others to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning
  • Maintaining a professional portfolio
  • Maintaining calendar and / or activity log to document activities as required by grant based funding sources and others
  • Attending all district PLOs for Instructional Technology staff
  • Performing other duties as assigned

APPOINTMENT :

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certification, credentials and evaluation of service.

This posting is being offered in anticipation of a possible reduction in force. Special consideration will be given to those with experience in the position.

SALARY : Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract
