About this position
Under the general direction of the lead facilities technician and under the day-to-day direction of the facilities technician, the facilities technician assistant will assist with the organization’s day-to-day maintenance needs and projects, including maintenance of organization and department equipment and property.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting with repair and installation of doors, windows, sinks, cabinet doors, electrical fixtures, paneling, and siding;
- Assisting the painting staff as needed with repair and painting of exterior and interior surfaces;
- Assisting the gardening staff as needed;
- Assisting with maintenance of playground surfaces and materials;
- Assisting with moving furniture, equipment, supplies and other items as directed;
- Reporting all obvious and potential safety hazards and consult with lead or facilities technician on how to correct the hazard;
- Reading and understanding all organization and program policies and procedures;
- Working effectively with other team members;
- Actively participating in in-service trainings;
- Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures.*
- Consistently maintaining a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- Ability to use a variety of traditional construction hand tools;
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis;
- Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively;
- A valid California driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier;
- One year of experience in the construction industry or in general building maintenance, including : rough or finish construction, painting, plumbing, and electrical (preferred).

Job specifications
- Reports to the facilities technician or lead facilities technician;
- Twelve-month work year, eight hours per day;
- Hours may vary, including evenings or weekend hours or holidays as required;
- Requires travel to local sites daily;
- Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.

$20.00 to $23.00 per hour
