About this position

Under the general direction of the lead facilities technician and under the day-to-day direction of the facilities technician, the facilities technician assistant will assist with the organization’s day-to-day maintenance needs and projects, including maintenance of organization and department equipment and property.

What you’ll be doing

• Assisting with repair and installation of doors, windows, sinks, cabinet doors, electrical fixtures, paneling, and siding;
• Assisting the painting staff as needed with repair and painting of exterior and interior surfaces;
• Assisting the gardening staff as needed;
• Assisting with maintenance of playground surfaces and materials;
• Assisting with moving furniture, equipment, supplies and other items as directed;
• Reporting all obvious and potential safety hazards and consult with lead or facilities technician on how to correct the hazard;
• Reading and understanding all organization and program policies and procedures;
• Working effectively with other team members;
• Actively participating in in-service trainings;
• Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures.*
• Consistently maintaining a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees;
• Performing other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

• Ability to use a variety of traditional construction hand tools;
• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis;
• Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively;
• A valid California driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier;
• One year of experience in the construction industry or in general building maintenance, including : rough or finish construction, painting, plumbing, and electrical (preferred).

Job specifications

• Reports to the facilities technician or lead facilities technician;
• Twelve-month work year, eight hours per day;
• Hours may vary, including evenings or weekend hours or holidays as required;
• Requires travel to local sites daily;
• Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.

Salary

$20.00 to $23.00 per hour
