Position : Desktop Support Technician
Reports to : Director of IT
Status : Full-Time Regular, Non-Exempt
Position Summary : As directed by and under the general supervision of IT Manager the Desktop Support Technician provides desktop support and up keeping of workstations and peripheral devices within Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Install, setup, and maintain workstations
- Able to setup new workstations per Director of Information Technology’s instructions
- Able to troubleshoot simple network connectivity issues
- Able to maintain a clean and neat workstation
- Install, setup, and maintain printer and other computer peripherals
- Able to set up printer per Director of Information Technology’s instructions
- Able to troubleshoot printer connectivity and hardware issues
- Troubleshot internet and agency network connectivity issues
- Able to troubleshoot internet connectivity issues and escalate issues to Network Administrator
- Able to set up simple network resources sharing
- Able to troubleshoot application issues and escalates issues to IS support Team
- Install, setup, and maintain IP phone
- Able to set up new NEC ASPIRE IP phone per Director of Information Technology’s instructions
- Able to troubleshoot simple connectivity issues and escalates issues to Phone support
- Able to perform simple administration functions on NEC ASPIRE phone system and NEC Voicemail system
- Provider trainings to end-users on Microsoft Office Suite 2003 / 2007
- Find ways to reduce re-occuring issues
- Able to troubleshoot printing and scanning issues related to Electronic Health Record System
- Must have excellent communication skill (be able to explain issues to non-technical end-users)
- Assist end-user troubleshoot issues related to Electronic Health Record system
- Able to lift 50 lbs of equipment
- Assist Information Systems Manager with other IT related issues as needed
Required Qualifications, knowledge & abilities :
- Recent Microsoft Certification or A+ Certified with minimum 2 years of experience
- 24 / 7 on-call rotation and willing to work on weekends
- Prior working experience in Medical clinic environment is a plus
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Spanish speaking is a plus
- Experience with HTML, Javascript, PHP, MYSQL is a plus
- Possession of a valid California Driver License, automobile insurance, and a clean driving record
- Must possess a reliable motorized vehicle
Physical requirements :
- Ability to sit for extensive period of time doing computer work
- Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for computer entry
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, squat or bend frequently
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with clients and professional staff
Working Conditions :
Exposure to all patient elements, including communicable disease and blood borne pathogens. Will be working in a fast paced finance environment which can be stressful and constantly changing conditions.
Normal working hours are from 8 : 00 am until 5 : 00 pm with one hour for lunch. However, working hours may vary depending upon need.
Will need to be flexible in performing tasks with limited discretion in making judgment decisions.
