Job Description :

The Flight Instructor provides one-on-one flight and / or simulation instruction to students.

Job Duties :

FAAComplianceDuties :

  • Auditstudentrecordstoensurethatallminimumflight times have been met, including all total time, solo time, cross-country, and night flight time;
  • Maintaincurrencyandproficiencyasrequiredbythe FAA;

Ensurecomplianceandrecordsinaccordancewith parts 61, 141, and applicable FAA Advisory Circulars :

StudentRecordsandStudentEndorsements;

Otherdutiesas assigned.

CertifiedFlightInstructorDuties :

PerformCFIresponsibilitiesandduties.

Provide one-on-one flight instruction to students in aircraftandflighttrainingdevicesinaccordancewith Federal AviationRegulationsPart 61and141,FAA- approved syllabi, and Aims Flight Operations Manual.

Providepreflightbriefingsandpost-flightdebriefings.

Fortraininginaircraft,supervisestudents’pre-flight aircraft inspection, make aircraft airworthiness decisions.

Determine when student is ready for and authorize andsupervisefirstsoloflight,authorizeviawritten log-book endorsement all student solo flights, supervise all levels of training.

Evaluate and document students’ flight skills, judgement, and knowledge for each lesson and assign a grade for that lesson;

calculate students’ finalcoursegradebasedondepartmentandcollege guidelines.

Keepssupervisoradvisedofstudents’progress.

Ensure that all training and flight activities are performedinasafeandsecuremannerperFederal Aviation Regulations.

Maintainproficiencyandcurrencyasrequiredbythe FAA.

OtherDutiesas Assigned :

Serveasamentortostudentsandnew instructors.

Assistwithinstructorinterviews,training,quality,and general oversight.

Participateinspecialevent days.

Attenddepartmentmeetings,FAAinspections,FSDO meetings, and FAA Safety Team meetings.

Work Hours :

Varied hours depending on school schedule.

HoldacurrentFAA First,Second, orThird classMedical.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.

This position requires the use of a company vehicle and / or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
