Title : Marketing Assistant - Ada Trade Group Marketing
Reports to : Sr. Director of Marketing
Department : Marketing
Location : Baker Publishing Group, Ada, MI
Position Type : Full time, Nonexempt
Position Objective :
The marketing assistant's primary objective is to support the administrative needs of the Sr. Director of Marketing and the Trade Nonfiction Marketing department, ensuring the staff and the authors / agents they serve are well cared for and, ultimately, that the department and BPG achieve the financial goals for each book.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Schedules and assists with planning key seasonal publishing meetings
- Preparing agendas
- Organizing necessary files
- Note-taking during the meetings
- Create positioning records in FileMaker Pro for all nonfiction titles
- Maintains a master schedule of key marketing deadlines (e.g. marketing budgets, marketing plans, endorsements, etc.).
- Produces and maintains the seasonal split list of titles
- Processes invoices
- Coordinates book mailings as requested
- Assists with the seasonal catalog schedule and routing
- Effectively communicates with editorial staff and maintains regular communication regarding season or book changes
- Upload excerpts to websites
- Orders books and materials as needed
- Manage Goodreads and LibraryThing book giveaways
- Creates and routes AMR documents for marketing initiatives
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing and Trade Nonfiction marketing team
Qualifications :
- Prior office / administrative experience preferred
- Proven organizational abilities, follow-through, and project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Asana, and FileMaker Pro preferred
Compensation and Benefits :
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a full-time position, benefits provided include health, dental, group life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid time off, paid medical leave, paid parental leave, 401(k) after three months, and others.
