Responsibilities :
- Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Kansas required.
- Development of substation design drawings which may include : General Arrangements & LayoutsElevations & Section DetailsBelow Grade Conduit Plans & SchedulesLightning Protection Plans / AnalysisGround Grid Design & Grounding DetailsBill of Materials (BOM)Control Building Layouts & Equipment
- Develop bid documents and material specifications.
- Review vendor submittals and provide analysis / feedback.
- Efficiently & effectively communicate design requirements and collaborate with other disciplines of the company including structural, civil, survey, land development, etc. on a regular basis.
- Generate reports on occasion.
- Perform work in a timely manner to meet established milestones and / or deadlines.
- Occasionally interface with clients to discuss design details and support construction tasks.
- Serve as mentor to other engineers in the group.
- Provide engineering expertise to develop design solutions and meet client needs in a timely manner
Requirements :
- Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience related to Substation Physical Design required.
- Knowledgeable on applicable codes and industry standards including the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Bulletins & applicable IEEE Standards.
- Proficient with various software packages including AutoCAD, Mathcad, and other design tools.
- Experience with PLS-POLE / CADD, Osmose O-Calc Pro, ETAP, Milsoft WindMil / LightTable, SKM Power Tools, Substation Design Suite (SDS), etc. desirable.
- Candidate must possess a mechanical aptitude with knowledge of power system design and operations.
- Ability to use office administrative and collaboration software (MS Office, Teams, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and tasks while working in a team environment.
- Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings may be required
