Corporate Controller

Overview

The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Oversees the operations of the Finance and Accounting Department including accounts payable, accounts receivable staff. May oversee payroll.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Prepares periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Prepares and files annual tax returns or prepares financial information so that outside accountants can complete tax returns.
• Advises management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for annual audits.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Develops and maintains relationships with banking, insurance, and nonorganizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) or similar software.
• Commercial contract experience preferred
• Government contract experience a plus
• Experience with Access & WinTeam preferred.
• Experience with MS Teams preferred
• Must be detailed-oriented.
• Self-motivated and self-starter.
• Must be flexible and able to cross train.

Education and Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• CPA required
• Ten years or more of related experience required.

Physical Requirements :

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Work in an indoor environment up to approximately 100% of the time.
