An SMT operator monitors and maintains equipment used to create electronic circuits with surface mount technology (SMT). Your primary job duties involve operating an SMT machine to mount electronic components directly onto circuit boards.
Machine Setup : Configuring and preparing surface mount technology (SMT) machines such as pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers, and reflow ovens.
Component Loading : Loading electronic components (resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, etc.) onto feeders and ensuring they are correctly set up for placement on PCBs.
Programming : Programming the SMT machines to accurately place components on PCBs according to specified designs and layouts.
Quality Control : Inspecting boards for defects during and after the assembly process, ensuring components are placed correctly and solder joints are of high quality.
Maintenance : Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on SMT equipment to keep it in good working condition.
Documentation : Maintaining records of production runs, machine settings, and any issues encountered during the manufacturing process.
