Responsibilities :
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, approximately 10-20 associates.
- Plan and prioritize production schedules to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
- Monitor workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources and timely completion of projects.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, purchasing, and quality assurance teams to resolve production-related issues and implement process improvements.
- Maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies required for production activities. Create purchase orders and requisitions when required.
- Monitor and analyze production metrics such as productivity, yield, and quality to identify areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to coordinate workflow and address any cross-functional issues.
- Enforce company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with factory policies and quality standards.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to production activities, including performance metrics, inventory levels, and safety incidents.
- Lead or participate in department Kaizen events to solve the root-cause of production deficiencies.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience (5+ years) in a manufacturing or job shop environment, with exposure to welding, machining, and assembly operations.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable spending up to 75% of the day on the shop floor, maintaining the production flow by monitoring progress and troubleshooting issues.
- Physically capable of standing / walking up to 75% of the shift, frequent bending, able to lift up to 25 lbs infrequently as needed.
- Prefers a dynamic environment. Product is high-mix, low-volume, and the right candidate will thrive in a non-defined environment where they have the freedom to creatively solve problems regarding engineering, purchasing, quality, scheduling, and staffing.
