Description

Assist with the planning and construction of small in house capital projects.

Job Duties

• Assist supervisor with structural design, planning, and layout of projects.
• Obtain cost estimates for materials.
• Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisor.
• Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
• Install windows and doors.
• Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares;

corrects problems as needed.

• Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must Possess a Valid Driver's License in the State of Alabama.
• Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program OR at least three (3) years of experience via on-the-job training.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trade.
• Ability to exercise tact and discretion with other employees, customers, and the public including reasonable standards of personal appearance.
