Progress through our Barista Training Program and graduate from our extensive training to get to the next level. You’ll learn everything from the basics of brewing, coffee origin knowledge, to advanced Barista skills and techniques.

Job Description : Store Trainer Responsibilities

• Leads store training program with guidance and direction from Team Lead & Store Manager.
• Disseminates training information, new product initiatives, quality standards and training of Baristas.
• Directly trains new & existing staff using Mudhouse Training Manuals and Materials
• Upholds quality standards across the product lineup as well as operationally
• Actively and clearly communicates with managers and upper management
• Responds and reacts to correspondence in a timely manner
• Is constructive and offers solution oriented feedback
• Relays communication from management to staff in a timely manner (Homebase, Whiteboards, and in-person coaching).
• Actively models policy and standards, such as dress code, professionalism, etc
• Executes and / or delegates sampling / brewing (i.e. Chemex for customers)
• Maintains and continuously improves standards
• Maintains and updates training forms and checklists
• Scheduling and leading trainings / classes and sampling sessions
• Meets with management monthly to discuss agenda, planning, etc.
• Maintains a positive work environment for all staff
• Diffuses negativity and redirects towards constructive positive feedback model
• Effectively and efficiently runs the FOH, including POS, Bakery & Coffee Bar.
• Troubleshoots equipment and communicates to managers in a clear and timely manner
• Understands that required duties and responsibilities may change over the course of time
• All responsibilities & duties of Barista and Shift Lead roles
• Maintains a full time 30+ hr a week availability.

General Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers
• Make & serve specialty coffee drinks, light food prep
• Engage customers around coffee knowledge and product
• Prep, stock, clean & organize cafe
• Takes on additional assigned tasks with vigor and positive attitude
• Opening and Closing duties including financial.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older
• Previous customer service experience required
• Coffee experience is not necessary, but preferred
• Timely, reliable, trustworthy & professional
• Positive and constructive outlook
• Offer 1 year minimum commitment

Insurance based on eligibility : 8 months past start date and maintaining an average of 30+ hours over that period of time.

Available shifts and compensation : We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $19.00 - $21.00 / hour.

About Mudhouse Coffee Roasters : The two of us used to giggle and pass notes in 8th grade math. After college, walkabouts, and real jobs, we met back up in Alaska and lived in a old VW van, down by the river.

That’s when we decided to open a coffeehouse back in Virginia. We wanted to make a difference. People thought we were crazy.

Banks thought we were crazy, but we persevered, starting with a little cart on the mall and at our beautiful city farmers market, and now here we are, 20+ years later, in the middle of a dream, roasting coffee together for people we love and playing around, still giggling like two little monkeys.
