Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Collaborate with Atlas staff and Senior Engineers and Managers to effectively execute field and laboratory construction and natural soil / rock materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical, and environmental consulting projects to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Attain base level of industry consulting knowledge appropriate for a new / entry-level member of staff, and work to advance professional knowledge in early stages of career.
  • Perform inspections and testing with continued training and certification as needed and required.
  • Participate in field testing, inspection, and reconnaissance activities.
  • Assist in development of appropriate solutions to material and geotechnical problems, develop design recommendations suitable for use in site and project design and construction.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis related but not limited to slope stability, deep foundations, bearing capacity, settlement, pavements, etc.
  • Participate in field exploration teams with surveyors, utility coordinators, drillers, and site owners.
  • Direct field exploration and testing teams and subcontractors under the supervision and direction of Atlas professional engineers and project managers.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, Atlas employees, vendors, subcontractors, and other pertinent members of the project team which may include engineers, architects, owners, and developers.
  • Assist other staff on tasks, and assist other departments as necessary.
  • Follow and embrace Atlas safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in continued education and business development opportunities, and establish involvement in professional organizations.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

  • BS degree in Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in field engineering and construction, geotechnical field exploration, and / or materials testing and inspection required.

As a professional in early stage of career, must have the ability to work to establish a base level of knowledge through provided work opportunities, and expand into additional professional opportunities over time under the guidance of professional office and field staff.

  • Relevant experience related to field engineering and construction, specifically geotechnical field exploration and materials testing and inspection, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in technical / scientific writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of up to an 8-12 hour work day in varying weather conditions in varying terrain.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regionally intermittently.
  • Must be comfortable working in the field as required.
  • Must be proficient at using Word, Excel, Adobe, and other widely-used software programs.
  • Desire to achieve certifications (EIT, PE) in professional fields over time is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Technical Requirements :

ACI Level 1 Certification Preferred
