The Analyst, Market Intelligence and Customer Insights supports the Market Intelligence team’s delivery of competitive and customer insights and intelligence to internal clients in Brother’s sales, marketing, and other customer and market-facing departments.
This role understands and synthesizes key market data including primary research, syndicated, and other secondary research in support of business unit strategic and tactical decision-making.
The Analyst, Market Intelligence and Customer Insights collaborates with internal clients from the business units to develop and implement the appropriate primary research methods to address the business need.
This will include development of surveys and other primary research, administration of that research (both directly and through management of external vendors), and analysis to drive insights that lead us to make impactful business decisions.
In addition, this role works closely with syndicated market data to understand Brother’s position in the current and potential marketplaces and our competitors’ strategies.
The knowledge derived from syndicated market data should be combined with the understanding achieved through primary research to provide a comprehensive view and guidance to the businesses.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of Market Intelligence and Customer Insights to provide all necessary support for successfully executing various primary market research projects.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Primary Research Support
- Understand business and research objectives of internal clients
- Determine appropriate research methods based on the business needs
- Plan and design surveys and other research instruments to discover existing and prospective customers’ preferences
- Develop questionnaires / discussion guides while incorporating stakeholders’ research objectives and keeping respondents’ engagement high for high-quality feedback
- Program and test surveys and collect data using a market research platform
- Analyze data using statistical software and techniques and / or research platform
- Summarize statistical data using various tables and charts
- Interpret data and formulate reports with insights and recommendations
- Support the delivery of these insights to internal clients and provide ongoing guidance to the internal clients regarding these insights
- Support the request-for-proposal (RFP) process if outside research capabilities are required
- Coordinate the work with market research companies / consultants as necessary
Market Trend Analysis
- Understand and apply externally sourced market data to address business questions and guide internal clients on data availability and use
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet their data and insight requirements
- Collect / analyze data on competitors and market trends and consolidate information into actionable items, reports, and dashboards
- Use syndicated market research data platforms to pull necessary data reports for further analysis
- Provide competitive analysis on Brother's various products, identify market trends, pricing / business models, sales, and methods of operation
- Ensure accurate development and timely reporting of key periodic reports
- Collaborate with internal Brother teams for the timely development and updates to the market data database and Tableau dashboards
- Support relationships with various syndicated research information providers and manage Brother user access
- Create detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
Web Intercept Survey Support
- Support implementation / operation of web intercept surveys for customer feedback on Brother’s US website (Brother-USA.com)
- Analyze and share the results of web intercept surveys with relevant internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with other Brother teams to ensure correct and timely implementation of intercept surveys
ABOUT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Market Research, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience with a wide range of quantitative and qualitative market research methodologies; market research-specific statistics and analytics expertise
- Minimum 1-year hands-on experience in analyzing and synthesizing data from primary, secondary, and other data sources
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in market and competitive intelligence analysis training and experiences
Software / Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of survey programming tools - at least one of the major research platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Forsta, Medallia)
- Proficiency in statistical software and / or platform for market research (e.g., SPSS, Q, Qualtrics)
- Knowledge of Dashboard tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
- Knowledge of syndicated POS data and other market intelligence services (e.g., Circana / NPD, IDC)
Other Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skill
- Ability to easily navigate data and synthesize complex data into workable prices of information
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on execution, with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate and visualize key concepts and findings
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours occasionally to engage with other parts of Brother’s global business
ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THIS ROLE
This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. #LI-Hybrid
- The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $70,000-84,000.00 per year.
- Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.
- This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives.
