Job Summary
Provides support to the procurement and materials planning teams by tracking key performance metrics, providing project support for packaging changes, maintaining the specification database, and driving strategic sourcing activities for derivative material categories in a centralized Procurement environment.
Collaborates with multiple Procurement members to maintain the overall integrity and timeliness of all sourcing related metrics and reporting.
In addition, the Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting all inventory transitions and provides visibility to residual on hand materials.
This position identifies and drives opportunities for continuous improvement of procurement processes throughout the organization and provides expertise to Leadership in planning and implementing Procurement strategies to achieve business goals and objectives including the annual budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and provide guidance on PPV variances and solicit commentary from the appropriate sourcing managers.
- Assist in the reporting of project and sourcing-specific savings results to customers.
- Provide support during the budgeting process to ensure all pricing and vendor data is disseminated to sourcing managers.
Also ensure data is entered into SAP accurately and on time to meet deadlines provided by the finance team.
- Manage the specification database by entering new items and making changes to existing materials as needed.
- Provide procurement team with specification data as needed for sourcing events including RFx activities and any other quotation purposes.
- Lead the creation and implementation of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned categories of spend. Manage the development of RFx documents.
Prepare detailed analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities and achieve stakeholder alignment on sourcing strategy and supplier selection for derivative material categories.
- Perform Supplier Management activities including measuring supplier performance, leading periodic supplier business reviews, assessing and addressing supplier risk, and building strong, strategic supplier relationships.
- Participate in product innovation team projects by creating new item codes and assisting the business in timely inventory transitions for all packaging changes.
- Tracks the availability of new artwork and communicates all updates to the planning team.
- Ensure compliance within assigned categories with ethical and sustainable procurement practices of contracted goods and services, including compliance with the company Code of Conduct, corporate and departmental policies and procedures, as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or an equivalent functional area.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or materials planning including supplier selection, management, and negotiations
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with ERP Supply Chain Planning software.
- Strong computer / systems skills including basic MS Office programs.
- Influencing / negotiation skills and change management experience with the ability to manage complexity and multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently to deliver results and influence stakeholders internally and externally
- Ability to take accountability for driving results and overcoming challenges
- Financial acumen and experience in business case development, cost modeling and other financial decision approaches
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of key supply chain and inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
- APICS or other Supply Chain / Logistics Certification encouraged but not required.
