Our client is a global planning, design, and commissioning services firm in the airport baggage handling systems space. As they are continuing to expand due to their several advanced solutions for North American airports, they are seeking multiple experienced Lead Design / Project Engineers with experience in driving the technical aspects of project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of designers to develop and execute installation drawing sets per the overall system design and manifest.
- Develop an understanding of the mechanical engineering requirements per project customer, as well as general parcel handling knowledge.
- Define project scope.
- Manage contract change orders.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and standards.
- Develop and execute an engineering plan, resource requirements, and schedule that supports the overall project scope, schedule, and allotted engineering hours.
- Maintain the overall project manifest.
- Review and approve vendor-supplied designs, equipment, and drawings.
- Review internal installation drawings and submit them to the customer and mechanical field crew per installation schedule.
- Provide technical interface with customer’s project representative(s).
- Compile material requirements and requisition all mechanical components and project materials.
- Communicate project-specific information with other departments including systems & pre-engineering, structural engineering, permitting, project management, purchasing, electrical engineering, field installation, and fabrication departments.
- Execute projects with an emphasis on cost-reduction, quality, and customer-centric focus.
- Provide support to the field installation team throughout the duration of project installation.
- Collect, compile, and submit project start-up and as-built documentation and programs.
What They Are Seeking
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred with at least 3+ years of experience with Baggage Handling System or Material Handling System projects as a Project Engineer / Manager.
- Strongly prefer experience with Baggage Handling Systems or other MHE experience (Parcel, Postal, Intralogistics applications).
- Strong communication and client interaction skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
- Must be able and willing to travel to job sites, as required, up to 20% of the time.
