SLR has an excellent opportunity for a talented Senior / Principal Hydraulic Engineer to join our team in Connecticut or alternatively, based on a range of technical proficiencies and ability to work independently, the successful candidate may be able to work from one of our other Northeast regional office locations.
The successful candidate will work as a senior technical resource on both private and state and / or federally funded public infrastructure and transportation-based projects and oversee the design of drainage, hydrology, and hydraulic projects.
Engaged in multiple concurrent assignments, the senior hydraulic engineer will oversee all aspects of technical work; will assist staff, including mentoring and training;
assist with client management; and will support project managers with coordinating schedules and deliverables and may assist branch offices, coordinating technical aspects of transportation design projects throughout the Northeast.
SLR offers a full integration of specialty practices in civil / structural engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, community planning, landscape architecture, water and wastewater engineering, environmental assessment and remediation, and construction administration to bring projects from the planning level through construction.

Job Description Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience working on a wide range of transportation-related projects, including municipal and state or federally funded projects
- Demonstrated experience in design of storm drainage systems
- Demonstrated experience in hydrologic and hydraulic studies and scour analyses
- Project or related task management experience
- Demonstrated understanding of bridge projects and interaction between roads and rivers
- Professional Engineer licensure required
- Working knowledge of HEC-RAS modeling software required
- Working knowledge of application of FHWA bridge scour and stream stability guidelines
- Understanding of AutoCAD and / or MicroStation interfaces

- Capable in developing work scopes and fee estimates

Compensation Range :
The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $100, to $120, Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
