UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to help support the Call Center! The primary responsibility of this position will be to answer all incoming phone calls in the call center and respond to the patient with the physicians' answers.
This position is dayshift, and hours could vary between 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm. A perk of this position is the option to work from home 50% of the time!
This position is currently eligible for a generous sign-on bonus!Sign-On Bonus Details :
- $7, available for LPNs with a minimum of one year of experience
- $5, available for LPNs with less than one year of experience (includes GPNs)
Responsibilities :
- Patient Communication : Handle incoming calls from patients regarding illness, medication refills, etc.Provide complete information about tests or procedures.
- Scheduling and Coordination : Schedule appointments for patients based on physician parameters.Occasionally schedule physician referrals and coordinate lab / diagnostic studies.
- Documentation and Communication : Document relevant information appropriately.Manage incoming and outgoing faxes and emails.
- Must be a graduate of an approved LPN school
- Must have a valid LPN license.
- Six months related experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
Graduate Practical Nurses : Must complete licensure examination within four months of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
