Job Summary
Under the direction of the Food Service Managers, the Food Service Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the food service department;
ensuring that work is performed in a timely and sanitary manner, while focusing on a consistently high level of patient and customer service.
Other area of focus includes overseeing the training of new employees, managing supply inventory, assisting managers with documented competencies and focused training sessions, performing basic kitchen inspections, and serving as the lead resource for cooks, clerks, and food service workers.
Essential Functions

- Monitor and train kitchen staff, enforcing compliance with department policies and procedures and hospital policies
- Monitor HACCP logs for regulatory compliance.
- Advise staff on appropriate department procedures, enforce department and hospital policies.
- Assist with meal preparation, including patient meal service, retail service, catering.
- Assist Operations Manager with cash handling duties and responsibilities.
- Monitor meal service software functionality and work with Lead Dietitian to ensure menu items are appropriate for patient service and programmed correctly.
- Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions
Job Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience
Five years of experience in food service or three years of health care experience; or five total years combined of food service and health care experience.
License / Certifications
ServSafe Certificate

- Excellent Communication skills
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and use time efficiently
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math skills associated with cash handling and recipe compliance.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with diverse population.
- Ability to take direction from patient care providers to meet the needs of the individual, including age related requirements.
- Knowledgeable of safe food handling, food storage, and kitchen sanitation practices.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation practices, use of kitchen equipment, and general cleaning materials.

Base Pay Scale : Generally starting at $31.00 - $40.00 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
