About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to join us. As a Senior Back-End Python Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the back-end services that ingest, process, and model large datasets across telecom, expense, asset, and ITSM data in multiple formats including CSV, XLS / XLSX, PDF, EDI, JSON, XML, Fixed-width files, and Database Exports.

This is a highly collaborative role that will involve working closely with product managers, data engineers, and front-end developers to create solutions that drive meaningful insights for our customers.

Your expertise in data engineering and back-end development will ensure the successful handling of high-volume data, improving data quality, and enabling advanced analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Data Ingestion : Design and implement robust data pipelines to ingest telecom, expense, asset, and ITSM data from various sources, ensuring the systems can handle large data volumes and multiple formats.

Data Parsing : Build efficient, scalable parsers for raw data that can handle complex data structures, including unstructured and semi-structured data (e.

g., invoices, CDR records, and ITSM logs).

Data Modeling : Create and maintain data models to support telecom expense management, IT asset management, and IT service management (ITSM) workflows.

Ensure the data models are optimized for querying and reporting by internal teams and external customers.

  • Performance Optimization : Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code that ensures optimal performance and responsiveness under increasing loads.
  • Data Validation and Quality Control : Implement strong data validation techniques to ensure the accuracy and integrity of ingested and processed data.

Develop monitoring systems to track the health of data pipelines and processes.

  • Collaboration : Work closely with the front-end development team, product managers, and DevOps to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
  • Testing & Debugging : Write unit and integration tests to ensure high code quality and troubleshoot and debug production issues as they arise.
  • Cloud Deployment : Deploy and manage backend services in AWS or other cloud environments, leveraging cloud-native tools for scalability and reliability.
  • Documentation : Maintain clear and concise documentation for all backend processes, APIs, and database interactions.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering , or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience : 5+ years of experience as a Back-End Developer working on SaaS applications.

Required and Desired Skills / Certifications :

  • Proficiency in Python : Strong experience with Python development, especially for back-end services and data manipulation.
  • API Development : Proven experience building and managing RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party services.
  • Data Pipeline Expertise : Experience building data pipelines and ETL workflows for ingesting, cleaning, and processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Data Parsing : Proficiency in developing parsers for complex data formats, including telecom billing data (e.g., call detail records), IT asset data, and ITSM records.
  • Data Modeling : Experience in creating and optimizing data models for querying, reporting, and analytics in the domains of telecom expense, asset management, and ITSM.
  • Big Data Tools : Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka for handling large-scale data ingestion and processing.
  • Agile Development : Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments, actively participating in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Version Control & Collaboration : Proficiency in Git and working with collaborative development platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • Testing and Debugging : Strong experience in writing and maintaining tests for back-end code, ensuring high quality and performance of the product.

Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and monitor for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity to perform activities such as reading technical documents, coding, and reviewing designs on screens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members through digital collaboration tools (e.g., video calls, emails, chat platforms).
  • May occasionally be required to lift and carry lightweight materials (up to 10 lbs) like laptops, manuals, or documents.
  • The capability to travel and work from the office in a full time capacity.
