The program is seeking an individual with expertise in clinical mental health counseling. There are a wide variety of teaching options available including counseling skills, practicum, career, research, group, trauma, human development, assessment, internship as well as elective courses of the candidate’s choice.
The successful candidate will have a 3 / 3 teaching load in the fall and spring as well as the expectation of teaching 2 classes in the summer for additional compensation.
The candidate will also have one course release in their first year, to be taken in either the fall or spring semester.
To be eligible for tenure and promotion the successful candidate will establish a research program and publish original research.
The candidate will also be expected to provide service to the program, school, and university and advise graduate students with reduced service and advising expectations during the first two years while the individual establishes their research program.
The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and / or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
Minimum Qualifications :
Have an earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation of degree completion within the first semester of appointment; or
Have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; or
Have been employed as a full-time doctoral-level faculty member in a CORE-accredited master’s program prior to July 1, 2017
Preferred Qualifications :
Licensed or eligibility for and attainment of the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa within three years of appointment
Training and / or experience as a clinical supervisor
Experience embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in course curriculum or the classroom experience
Experience teaching master’s level counseling courses
Experience providing clinical mental health counseling services to clients
Experience in curriculum development
Experience with CACREP or other accreditation bodies
Experience cultivating practicum sites for students
Familiarity with rehabilitation and school counseling
Availability to teach two classes in the summer for additional compensation (with the possibility of teaching online)
