Central Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant!

At least one year of animal handling experience required

Location : 317 Ardsley Road Scarsdale, NY 10583

Compensation : $18 -$22

Clinic Hours :

Monday - Friday 8 : 00 am-7 : 00 pm

Saturday 8 : 00 am-3 : 00 pm

Sunday Emergencies Only 9 : 00 am-11 : 00 am

Shift Details : Ability to work 2-3 weekends monthly is a requirement for this position.

Skills :

Our Veterinary Assistants are assigned a doctor / technician team each day. We rely heavily on our Veterinary Assistants for the following duties :

• Facility maintence, cleaning, laundry, mopping, and making sure the hospital is sanitary.
• Restraint - assists with restraint in exam rooms, restraint during procedures and therapies
• Will assist with radiographs, ultrasounds and other procedures.
• Weighs patients, takes clients into a room for the doctor, client communication
• Boarding / kennel cleaning, organizing and care of patients (sprinkled with telling them how handsome / beautiful and loved they are)
• Giving treats, sweet talking and making our patients and their owners feel welcome.
• Creative with finding ways to help out around the hospital and finding projects to stay busy.

Taking the initiative to do tasks that are not expected from you to make the day run efficiently.

Feels comfortable communicating and relaying messages to clients from a doctor or technician.

Central Animal Hospital is an AAHA accredited, busy 8 doctor practice. We see mostly dogs and cats but we also see some pocket pets, wild life and the occasional goat or sheep.

We are looking for someone with a willingness to learn and grow. We are happy to train someone that may not have all the skills or a lot of hands-on experience as long as you are motivated and an independent worker.

We offer a wide variety of modalities and therapies for our clients / patients including orthopedic surgeries, endoscopy, ultrasound, oncology and more.

We are not Fear Free certified but try to incorporated as many techniques as possible when handling our patients.
