Job Description

The Safety & Maintenance Specialist - Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient working environment within the manufacturing facility.

This role involves implementing and overseeing safety protocols, conducting regular maintenance of equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both safety management and industrial maintenance.

Safety Management :

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Organize and lead safety training sessions for employees, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.

Maintenance Management :

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal operation and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment as needed, minimizing downtime and production delays.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring availability when needed.
  • Develop and maintain a maintenance schedule, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on operations.

Regulatory Compliance :

  • Stay updated on OSHA and other relevant safety and health regulations, ensuring company practices are in full compliance.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in developing emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.

Continuous Improvement :

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety and maintenance considerations into overall business strategies.

The Successful Applicant

The Safety & Maintenance Specialist - Manufacturing will have the following qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (, OSHA Certification, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)).
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a safety and maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful safety programs and conducting equipment maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance management software.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
