Chemist (Energy Curable EC UV & EB)
The Chemist will be responsible for the development of new coatings and primers and provide technical assistance and support of current customers and products.
Other responsibilities include product portfolio enhancement, profitability improvement, and broaden technology innovation and Intellectual Property.
Essential Job Functions :
- Develop and validate new and improved EC coatings, primers and laminating adhesives supporting a commercialized portfolio of state-of-the-art EC products which continues to meet the future goals and objects of the business in packaging and graphics
- Evaluate EC coatings, primers, and laminating adhesives, both competitive and internal, to make timely and fit for use recommendation to business stakeholders including product management, technical service, and sales specialists in support of existing EC business and new business growth and development
- Test, analyze, and determine root causes to resolve product performance customer feedback, and implement product and process improvements to prevent re-occurrences
- Use available information technology, project management systems and design processes, to manage, track, and efficiently execute and fulfill EC projects to the required performance, quality, and safety standards
- Provide accurate, detailed, and timely technical progress reports, supporting data, and technical presentations to key stakeholders
- Demonstrate and employ a high level of scientific understanding of EC raw materials and products underpinning significant innovation and application in packaging and graphic arts
- Interact with 3rd parties including customers, vendors, equipment and service providers, and technical trade associations, to broaden EC knowledge base, and enable class leading delivery and speed to market of new product innovations
- Collaborate across supply chain, procurement, manufacturing operations, QC, legal, regulatory, EHS, product management, sales, and technical service to ensure high quality, safe, and efficient commercialization of new and improved products
Technical Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or PhD in a science-based field, such as chemistry
- 5-7+ years of lab experience in developing EC coatings or inks for packaging and graphic arts, preferably with a track record of successful new product commercialization
- Preferably demonstrate successful collaboration with or supervision of chemists and technicians in a laboratory team environment
- Must demonstrate introductory knowledge of materials and formulations
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to project management
- Demonstrated structure / property relationship in coatings and primers
