Bollinger Motors is seeking a Quality Drive Technician to ensure Class 4, 5, and 6 electric commercial vehicles meet our high standards for performance, safety, and reliability.
This role involves inspecting and testing vehicles, analyzing drive quality data, and working closely with engineering and production teams to address quality issues.
This position reports to the Quality Manager. This is an in-person role at the company’s contract manufacturer in Livonia, MI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and drive quality tests on Class 4, 5, and 6 commercial electric vehicles to ensure they meet Bollinger Motors and industry standards.
- Evaluate electric vehicle performance metrics such as handling, ride comfort, noise, vibration, and overall drivability, with a focus on electric powertrain characteristics.
- Identify and document quality issues or defects related to drive performance, electric propulsion systems, and battery efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Analyze drive quality data and feedback specific to electric vehicles to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all vehicles adhere to relevant regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, including engineering, manufacturing, and management teams.
- Contribute to the development of quality improvement initiatives and best practices based on inspection findings and advancements in electric vehicle technology.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.

Education, Skills and Knowledge

- Associate degree in automotive technology, electric vehicle technology, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of quality inspection experience, particularly with electric vehicles required.
- Strong understanding of electric vehicle drive quality metrics, electric powertrains and battery systems
- Solid understanding of test equipment, GD&T, fixturing, and inspection techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to report findings clearly and collaborate effectively with team members.
