The Aerospace Business Unit is responsible for Aerospace applications with a global responsibility for Sales, Manufacturing, Business development, Product and Process Development.
Due to the nature of the business, each candidate must be a US Citizen. In Hanover, PA we produce Rings and Seals for the Aerospace and Industrial markets.
In this position you will be expected to :
- Manage, analyze, assist with engineering needs and facilitate production activities on 3rd shift.
- Lead 3rd shift production employees.
- Work with employees to constantly improve efficiencies.
- Independently analyze product and equipment specifications and performance while meeting production goals and maintaining Quality and Safety standards.
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate with Operations Manager for resource analysis and capacity planning.
- Plan and assign work according to changing priorities.
- Motivate machine operators to accomplish production goals.
- Initiate SKF Production System to improve product flow.
- Train, mentor, and supervise machine operators for skill improvement and development.
- Perform defect root cause analysis and mitigation.
- Perform product margin analyses.
- Analyze product and equipment specifications and performance requirements.
- Determine product characteristics for existing manufacturing or processing equipment.
- Provide technical information concerning manufacturing techniques, materials, and process advantages.
- Maintain knowledge of in-house manufacturing processes to reduce total costs.
- Knowledgeable of machine controls and able to make offset adjustments.
- Participate in capital equipment selection decisions.
- Perform departmental administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, programming, or related field preferred.
- Associate’s degree in engineering, programming, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient computer skills, comfortable with Windows Microsoft applications.
- Experience in managing and inspiring direct reports.
- Union experience preferred.
- CNC controls and programming experience required.
- Ability to train on 1st shift.
- Home shift for position after training will be 3rd shift (11P-7A, with a Sunday night start up).
- Some Saturday work may be required due to business needs.
- Shift flexibility for coverage due to paid time off.
Skills, Knowledge & Other Requirements :
- Experience in manufacturing very tight tolerance parts with thin cross-sections.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have an inquisitive nature to understand how factory processes impact results.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees.
- Ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with exotic materials.
- Experience in implementing Lean manufacturing techniques in an Aerospace setting.
- Able to meet production goals within time and budgetary constraints.
- Experience in developing human capital through selection, teaching, training & mentoring.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
