The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company.
The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work.
The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
POSITION SUMMARY / DETAILS :
Work with project team, admin work, reviewing drawings, part of engineering team for design and review.
Accountabilities :
- Work with project team, complete admin work, reviewing drawings, and be part of the engineering team for design and review.
- Must have reliable transportation to drive to any of our sites.
Physical Location of Co-op : Western Service Area : Students must be willing and able to work in any of our services areas and power stations including :
Polk Power Station in Mulberry, FL MacDill Power Station in Tampa, FL *(military background check required upon hire)
Student must have their own vehicle to drive to any of our sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Power Station / Service Areas, hands-on. Willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc. and work in industrial environments which can be dirty.
- Combination of Plant / Field and Office environment. Must be willing and able to work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments.
Preferred Availability : Full-time (40 hours) OR Part Time (30 40 hours)

Education :
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements :
- To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- Degree : Engineering
- Related Discipline : Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical
- Year in School : Junior or Senior, or Graduate Student
