The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for planning, directing, implementing and improving quality within Nursing and the Milieu.
Administrative responsibilities are planning, budgeting, managing, and evaluating the work and resources of the Nursing services and providing support to the Milieu.
The CNO also collects and analyzes statistical data and provides reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Committee.
Receives clinical direction and supervisor from the Medical Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : To perform this job successfully, a staff person must be able to perform each of these essential duties satisfactorily.

Oversees the planning, budgeting, and evaluation of work and resources of the Nursing Department and providing support to the Milieu.
Collects and analyzes statistical data and provides reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the leadership committees.
Formulates departmental policies with input from the nursing and other departments and in accordance with the accreditation, federal and state regulatory standards.
Schedule, lead, direct and supervise the nursing staff. Develop and maintain proper staffing patterns for nursing according to safety needs, state regulations, budgetary guidelines, and supervisory needs of the residents.
Recruit, interview and recommend appointment of qualified and competent nursing candidates. Assure current competency of nursing staff according to Facility’s policies and procedures and accreditation standards.
Identify and develop quality improvement standards for nursing to improve treatment and expeditated positive resident outcomes.
Ensure proficiency and accuracy in completing client records as scheduled and according to hospital’s standards. Maintain a professional and productive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation and teamwork with co-workers.
Help to support a safe work environment by following safety practices within the center and immediately reporting any concerns / issues to the Safety Risk Management Administrative.
WORKDAYS / HOURS : Work hours to meet the needs of the Nursing and Psych Tech departments. May work weekends and evenings to provide continuity of communication or assist in crisis situations.
The CNO must be able to flex schedule to meet Milieu needs. Education and / or Experience : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with licensure in good standing.
Two years of Psychiatric clinical experience with children and adolescents(preferred); and nursing management and / or supervision experience.
Master's degree in nursing or related health care field preferred. Experience in psychiatric / clinical nursing principles and application, with demonstrated ability to teach the same.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment for this position is an inpatient hospital setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subject to occasional local travel as required by facility needs.
