About the Role

As a Senior Design Manager, you will guide our company-wide New Verticals Shopper Experience. As DoorDash continues to scale and expand beyond serving as a food delivery company, this function and design management role have grown in significance within the organization to become one of the most mission-critical areas of the business.

You will report directly to the Head of Design for Dasher & Logistics in our Product Design org. This role is a hybrid opportunity, with 2-3 days a week onsite from one of our Design Hubs.

  • Manage, develop, and hire a team of exceptional designers
  • Actively practice and evangelize customer-centric thinking throughout the entire org
  • Partner with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to define the vision for our Dasher Fulfillment experiences
  • Partner with the design leadership team to build a holistic design strategy for our entire suite of products
  • Coach and mentor designers on both soft and hard skills and help them develop and achieve career goals
  • Build a culture that elevates the team, in terms of both performance and morale
  • Establish an operating model that increases the team’s effectiveness
  • Align the team’s priorities and deliverables to our overarching strategy and goals

We're excited about you because

  • You have 10+ years of experience in design, with 3+ years in team building and people management
  • You have a track record of impact you’ve been directly involved in and have a proven track record of driving significant, company-wide impact.
  • You are constantly redefining what is possible in a product and can figure out a way to make almost anything happen.
  • You’re a playmaker. You visualize and articulate a clear design strategy to cross-functional partners
  • You are experienced in executive management and communication, especially at managing up and across DoorDash and going toe to toe with our most senior leaders
  • You have a proven ability to create clarity and focus in complex and ambiguous problem spaces
  • You have demonstrated experience in building the team necessary to fulfill the strategy

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York and Washington.
