This position has responsibility for IT Network Infrastructure Services focused on Covestro locations in the Americas. The primary responsibilities include support for LAN / WAN and voice installations.
Position is part of the global Covestro IT Network Team and helps to define and implement Network services and integrations.
Position meets business needs in collaboration with other IT Infrastructure teams, security teams and managed service providers.
The network is the most critical component of our Infrastructure and business continuity is most dependent on it. The Network Infrastructure continues to evolve and this position is responsible to adapt the network with the latest technologies to keep the network reliable and secure while adding automation and capacity.
Major Tasks & Responsibilities :
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor and analyze network performance and security.
- Develop and implement network security policies.
- Configure and manage VPNs and remote access solutions.
- Install and configure wireless access points.
- Design and implement network segmentation.
- Implement and maintain network monitoring tools.
- Configure and manage network load balancers.
- Develop and maintain network documentation.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and products.
- Provide technical support and training to users.
- Develop and implement network recovery & failover plans.
- Serves as consultant to management within a specific area / discipline for LAN / WLAN and voice networks.
- Manages third party contract companies.
- Influences commitment of resources at divisional / departmental level
- This position is also responsible for managing network projects including projects such as : Integration of acquired sites into and decommissioning from the Covestro network in the event of a Divestiture or change in Business structures;
Migrating key components of the CSN in the event of Data Center migrations or Data Room re-locations into the cloud.
- Support all US sites and coordinate with service and solution providers to resolve IT-related issues.
- Develops network of external contacts appropriate to job.
- Ensures adherence to operation guidelines and compliance to standards.
WHAT YOU OFFER
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field with at least 6 years of related experience OR Master’s degree in information technology or a related field with at least 4 years of related experience
- Experience in network management and support for process manufacturing company
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or Cisco certifications in Voice, Routing and Switching, Security and Firewalls
- Experience in LoRaWAN network deployment and management
- Experience in deploying and managing devices in a Zero Trust environment
