About the Role :

Job Title : Mainframe Developer

Position Overview

As a Mainframe Developer at Ascendion in Delaware, you will play a crucial role in system design, application development, and maintaining operational stability.

You will leverage your hands-on experience to develop, debug, and maintain code in a dynamic corporate environment.

This role requires proficiency in modern programming languages and a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

You will work with a range of technologies and methodologies to ensure robust and efficient application performance.

Key Responsibilities :

• System Design and Development : Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using IBM-Z / OS technologies and other related tools.
• Coding and Debugging : Write and debug code in one or more programming languages, ensuring high quality and reliability in a large corporate environment.
• Operational Stability : Maintain and enhance system stability through rigorous testing and operational practices.
• Agile Methodologies : Apply agile methodologies, including CI / CD, application resiliency, and security best practices to the development lifecycle.
• Mainframe Technologies : Utilize IBM-Z / OS COBOL, CICS, IMS DB / DC, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CA7, and Changeman / Endeavor. Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solutions is also essential.
• API Development : Create APIs using z / OS Connect and Kafka integration where applicable.
• Cloud and Modern Technologies : Demonstrate knowledge of AWS and, where possible, modern front-end technologies.

Required Qualifications :

• Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
• Proficiency in coding with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Strong grasp of agile methodologies including CI / CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Hands-on experience with IBM-Z / OS technologies, including COBOL, CICS, IMS DB / DC, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CA7, and Changeman / Endeavor.
• Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solutions.
• Ability to create APIs using z / OS Connect and Kafka integration is an advantage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AWS is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
• Knowledge of the banking domain and credit card systems.
• Exposure to cloud technologies.
• Experience with Java.

Location : Wilmington, DE

Salary Range : The salary for this position is between $100,000 $110,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography / market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
