GENERAL SUMMARY :
Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisors,activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, andinstallation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenanceof buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrialplant, or other establishments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develops preventive maintenanceprogram in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
- Confers with management, engineering, andquality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and torecommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machinesand equipment.
Directs maintenance activities on utility systems toprovide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, orair required for operations.
- Directs trainingand indoctrination of workers to improve work performance andacquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Ensures maximum efficient operations offacilities and equipment, as well as the care of all grounds andsupport equipment, through the direction of a technical supportstaff made up of supervisors, technicians, custodians, and thepurchase of necessary outside technical and non-technical supportservices.
- Plans, develops, and implements newmethods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimizeoperating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor andmaterials.
- Coordinates activities of workersfabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment tomanufacture new products or improve existing products.
- Reviews job orders to determine workpriorities.
- Schedules repair, maintenance,and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensurecontinuous production operations.
- Inspectsoperating machines and equipment for conformance with operationalstandards.
- P repare department budget andmonitor expenditure of funds in budget.
EDUCATION : Typically requires anEngineering Degree, Technical Associates Degree or completion ofVocational / Technical specialty certification / licensure program in arelated field.
EXPERIENCE : Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of DIRECTLY RELATEDexperience. DIRECTLY RELATED work experience will be considered ona year-for-year basis in lieu of the educational requirement.
